Resources

Welcome to the resources page. I’m adding links here as I find them. As you can see, it’s getting longer and longer! At some point I will re-categorize this list so you can find things more easily.

If you’re a practitioner, trainer, researcher, or anyone else who is doing relevant work, or you know someone who is, please get in touch.

A note on finding peer-reviewed research

If you’re not affiliated with a university, it can be hard to immediately access full texts of some research. This long and helpful article has some good tips.

GENERAL MENOPAUSE

Please note: much current mainstream menopause information is very gender binaried and focused on cisgender heterosexual women. This does not make it bad or not worth checking out, but some of the content may not be relevant (or actively alienating) to someone who is queer, non-binary or trans. This can also be the case with many social media discussion groups.

In this first section I’m putting links to places where you can find general menopause-related medical/health information. I cannot guarantee that some of it won’t be jarring to you in some way, but you may also find something useful.

British Menopause Society The BMS educates, informs and guides healthcare professionals on menopause and all aspects of post reproductive health. Their patient arm is Women’s Health Concern.

Menopause Support Busy website with lots of info, run by prolific media campaigner Diane Danzebrink. Also has a high traffic Facebook page, the Menopause Support Network.

NICE Guidelines on Menopause If your GP is resistant to engaging with you about menopause, you are advised to read these and take them along with you to your next appointment.

GMC (General Medical Council) Ethical Guidance for Doctors Published in November 2020, this guidance lays out best practice for working with patients. If you are having trouble discussing menopause and potential treatments with a medical practitioner, this may be helpful.
